Carl Morton, indescribable bass player, sat in and “wowed” everyone May 4 at Zimm’s. He’ll join us again Saturday, May 14, at The Gas Lamp along with Barb Miller for an evening of blues, R&B and his famous funk. During his military career, Carl has performed for several U. S. Presidents and numerous foreign dignitaries as well as with noted musicians Quincy Jones, Arturo Sandoval, Pamela “The Saxtress” Williams, and others. His main influences are Bill Watrous, Maynard Ferguson, Marcus Miller, Alain Caron, Brian Bromberg, Peter Muller and all Realbook jazz grooves.
You’ve got to hear the guy to believe anyone could play at this level. Bob and Carl’s performance of Edgar Winters “Frankenstein” is a real showstopper!
Joining us also Saturday is R&B funk drummer Mike Woods.
